iOS app a battery drainer

I don't know how they managed that however when I checked which app was hogging my iphone 6s, found out that ladbrokes.com.au app was the culprit running in the background. uninstalled it and been using mobile website since then, it's all good in terms of battery but seriously how did they manage that?
