hotels.com refund lies

When I wanted to cancel my booking of a property these guys told me that they could only provide me with a voucher, no refunds however when I spoke to the property owner, he was very understanding telling that he'd not received any words from hotels.com and happily cancelled my reservation enabling me to get the refund.
