2023 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational in London

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is one of two international events where professional League of Legends teams from every region meet in one country to compete, and is said to be held in 2023 MSI, London, United Kingdom.

According to the research done, the event is expected to take place next summer with the evaluation of a few potential venues. The verdict isn't 100% fixed, but several reliable sources have said it's likely.

MSI will be held in the UK for the first time

If this decision becomes official, it will be MSI's first event in the UK. Countries that have hosted League of Legends' MSI in recent years include Brazil, the United States, and Iceland. Busan, the capital of South Korea, was the last host of this fascinating mid-season event.

The exact location and announcement of MSI 2023 is not yet known, but sources say that this event could take place in Wembley. Wembley Arena has several venues that might be suitable, including the Copperbox Arena, O2 Arena, and more.

The UK is also home to a number of quality stadiums where London-based football clubs such as Tottenham and Arsenal host events such as Tottenham's last Madden NFL game event and more.

It is clear that after Covid and Brexit, there has not been a large esports tournament in the UK for a while. And in that case, holding MSI in London would be a big win for the region.

While League of Legends, developed by Riot games, did not stand out in the esports world, the quarter-finals of the 2015 World Championship were held at Wembley Arena in London.

We know the UK hasn’t hosted many esports events in the wake of the pandemic, but recently the RLCS 2022 Spring Championship was held at the Copper Box Arena in London. Also, before covid, London hosted a number of events for many games. London has been known to host other major esports tournaments before covid, including Call of Duty, CS:GO and Clash Royale and more.

Not just London!

Apart from London, UK cities such as Birmingham and Manchester have also hosted many championships and tournaments. Birmingham hosting the ESL One Dota 2 tournaments. Manchester also hosted Valorant's Red Bull Home Ground with a 100 Thieves win.

In November, League of Legends developer Riot Games announced that changes to the World Championship format and format changes at MSI will arrive in 2023.
